Participates in new Erasmus+ sport initiatives!

Olympiacos continues the intense participation in the European Erasmus+ sport projects having a leading role. 

Having run a range of projects such as Sport & Support, Sport My Way and You’re Hope in the last four years, five new ones were approved proving the good work of the club staff in social and sport initiatives of the European Commission. Olympiacos continues to show its leading role in EMCA works developing new interesting partnerships with a large number of European clubs and sport organizations and demonstrating that it’s a reliable partner. 

Following the announcement of the results of approved projects, our club will participate in 5 projects being the coordinator in two of them. They are interesting programs that enhance the social profile of the club and contribute to the dissemination of good practices at European level.

However, its participation in European initiatives doesn’t stop here, as it has already shown interest in new actions and has proposed innovative ideas that are expected to be finalized in the first quarter of 2019.

«My Olympic Experience»

Duration: 12 months (1/1/2019 - 31/12/2019)

Participants: Olympiacos (Coordinator), Levski – Sports For All, Lazio

The first program is called "My Olympic Experience" and aims to encourage and support the organization, development and coordination of sport activities for "all". During its implementation, the participating clubs are expected to organize multisport activities for fans and citizens of their local communities in the model of the Olympic Games, spreading the message and values that these Games represent and improving the sport spirit and cultural exchanges between the participants. In addition, it pursues to facilitate the integration of minorities in local communities and fight the discrimination.

«Sports For Different Heroes»

Duration: 18 months (01/01/2019 - 30/06/2020)

Participants: Olympiacos (Coordinator), Lazio, Hassle Mladost, Red Star, APOEL

"Sport For Different Heroes" aims to raise public awareness and facilitate the social inclusion of people with mental retardation through sport activities. Sports have the ability to transcend cultural and social barriers which make them an excellent means for inclusion and adaptation. Persons with disabilities face societal barriers and the disability evokes negative perceptions and discrimination in many societies. There is  a stigma associated with disability that lead these people to be excluded from education, employment and community life which deprives them of opportunities essential to their social development, health and well-being. Sport can assist to restrict this stigma and discrimination associated with disability because it can transform community attitudes about these persons. Although the interest of society in the needs of people with disabilities, particularly those with intellectual disabilities, has increased nowadays, several actions and actions are needed to ensure effective social inclusion. As these people cannot defend their rights, there is a need for more actions. This feeling has prompted five European multisport clubs to coordinate and implement this project organizing multisport activities for people with intellectual disabilities.

«Paralympic water polo»

Duration of program: 12 months (01/01/2019 - 31/12/2019)

Participants: Lazio (Coordinator), Olympiacos, Hassk Mladost, Wiener, APOEL, Red Star

The "Paralympic water polo" project focuses on the spread of a new Paralympic sport, enabling people with disabilities to enjoy a new sport experience that will act as an additional way to social inclusion. The spirit of the Paralympic Games is consistent with the development of a new positive attitude towards people with disabilities, awareness of the right to equal participation, recognizing the passion and determination of these athletes. Every athlete does his/her best to participate in Olympic events. Therefore, the effort of athletes with disabilities is worthy of admiration, given that their performance and records in many sports differ only a few seconds from the Olympic ones. The Paralympic Games give people with disabilities the opportunity to experience a wide variety of sports and the joy of championship. In this project, participants are expected to organize water polo training for disable people under the guidance of their professional coaches and athletes. 

«BIG4SPORTS»

Duration of program: 30 months (01/01/2019 - 30/06/2021)

Participants: EPSI (Coordinator), Olympiacos, ICSS Insight, SPONSORA, Catalan Sport Council, Hassle Mladost, Aalborg, Vienna

BIG4SPORTS aims at connecting funding sources (public and private) with sports organizations to jointly develop new and innovative collaboration schemes in Good governance for sport. Taking this into account, the project aims at enhancing good governance abilities, achieving long-term partnerships with public and private sponsors, implementing the principles of good governance in sports organizations effectively, and finally evaluating this project in order to formulate a solid methodology that will be disseminated to the European Union sports community. Good governance in sports organizations seems to be an important issue in order to ensure external funding. It’s clear that the adoption of new and innovative mechanisms of good governance will have a direct and positive impact on the overall image of sports organizations and will probably increase sponsorship income and sport attractiveness.

«Mobility in Sport»

Duration of program: 18 months (01/01/2019 - 30/06/2020)

Participants: Lazio (Coordinator), Olympiacos, Levski Sofia, Red Star

The objective of this action is to support learning mobility and exchanges while promoting the international dimension of sport. Thanks to their presence in the Project, they will give an added value to the entire network, promoting the international dimension of sport and contributing to the integration through the sharing of best practices with other three Clubs. Eight sport people (four coaches and four sport staff) coming from each of the four Multisport Clubs involved, will experience a period in the other three Clubs, visiting their structures and sport facilities. They will have the opportunity to meet new people, working in contact with them and seeing different techniques of doing their job in a different country. Thanks to this experience, all the participants involved will increase the baggage of experiences and the relationship among the Clubs will be strengthened, stimulating the creation of future mobility partnerships in next years.
